In a study published in Cell Reports, BI Changhao's lab and ZHANG Xueli's lab at Tianjin Institute of Industrial Biotechnology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences constructed enhanced GBE variants for wider application.

The research group led by Prof. LIU Xiaolong from Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter developed a virus-mimicking and glutathione (GSH)-responsive hollow mesoporous tetrasulfide-bridged organosilica (ssss-VHMS) to skillfully delivered NaCl nanocrystals to tumor sites and sequentially realized the explosive release of Na⁺ inside tumor cells.

During botanical surveys of the transboundary cooperation on biodiversity research and conservation in Gaoligong Mountains in 2021, researchers from the Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden collected an unknown Begonia species with bracteoles present. After careful literature review and morphological comparisons, they confirmed it as a species new to science.
