A research team led by Prof. ZHAO Qiao from the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has unveiled the role of a cytosolic aromatic aminotransferase, VAS1, in the recycling of AAAs.

A team of researchers from China, Australia, France, Spain, and Germany has revealed advanced material culture in East Asia 45,000 years ago. They examined a previously excavated archaeological collection from the Shiyu site, located in Shanxi Province.

Researchers from the Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden reported a new Ardisia species which was introduced from the wild and cultivated in Yunnan. After making morphological observations and measurements on live plants and herbarium specimens, the researchers confirmed it new to science.

A team led by Prof. SONG Xianjun from the Institute of Botany, while researching a ternary protein complex in rice nuclei that affects grain size, has shown that the transcription factor bZIP23—a protein that regulates the transcription of genetic DNA information into RNA and is part of the ternary complex—recruits the chromatin-modifying histone acetyltransferase HHC4 to specific promoters on the DNA.

Prof. LI Shuqiang from the Institute of Zoology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, collaborating with Prof. LUO Yufa from Shaoxing University, has conducted research in identifying the spatiotemporal distributions of the cosmopolitan thoracica group, and the mechanisms driving their distribution.

A research group led by Prof. LI Yang at the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has developed a hypoxia-responsive nanogel (NG) for the delivery and penetration of diacerein (Dia) and (-)-epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) into tumors, thereby modulating the tumor inflammatory environment and bolstering anti-tumor combinational immunotherapy.

A team led by Prof. CONG Yao and Prof. ZHU Xueliang from the Center for Excellence in Molecular Cell Science, Shanghai Institute of Biochemistry and Cell Biology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the collaborators, reported the first near-atomic resolution cryo-EM structure of mammalian RS head-neck complex, and determined the first in situ cryo-ET axonemal structure of ependymal cilia.

Researchers led by Prof. ZHU Ping from the Institute of Biophysics, together with Prof. XIA Qingyou and HE Huawei from Southwest University in China, have proposed a method to keep NSF stable and maintain its in vivo structure outside the body through extensive screening.

Researchers from the Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden and their collaborators sought to explore the coexistence mechanism of closely related species. Using spatially explicit soil data and species-level transcriptomic data, they studied 13 Ficus species occurring within a 20-ha forest dynamics plot.

Researchers led by Prof. LI Xinjian from the Institute of Biophysics have identified the extracellular transport protein ATP-binding cassette transporter G2 (ABCG2) for itaconate and elucidated the molecular mechanism by which ABCG2 inhibits the innate immune capacity of macrophages by effluxing itaconate, suggesting that ABCG2 may be a new target for antibacterial therapy.

During a botanical survey in Putao, Kachin State, Myanmar, in 2017, researchers from the Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden collected an unknown species of Nothapodytes. It belongs to Nothapodytes because its distinctive lorate hairy petals are connated at the base, and the fleshy foliaceous disk is divided into five leaf-like lobes.
