The Computer Network Information Center (CNIC) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Springer Nature signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on September 8 in Beijing to strengthen cooperation on open data. The cooperation mainly revolves around open data, with various forms including reports, academic conferences, capacity building activities, communication and promotion.

The 7th Digital Belt and Road Conference concluded in Beijing on September 6, 2023. The three-day event brought together about 250 experts from some 20 countries to explore utilizing digital technologies to facilitate the sustainable development of the Belt and Road region.

Utilizing the launch opportunities of the "Lijian-1" rocket, the "Innovation X Scientific Flight" program plans to launch four scientific nano satellites weighing 50kg, two micro-satellites weighing 100kg, and one scientific experimental satellite weighing 600kg every year.

An international conference on quantitative biology was held recently in Southern China’s Shenzhen, drawing over 300 participants from more than 20 universities worldwide to discuss illuminating opportunities and shaping the future of quantitative and synthetic biology. Jointly organized by the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology (SIAT) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Tsinghua University, Peking University, and the Shenzhen Institute of Synthetic Biology, the 17th Q-Bio on Quantitative Biology provided a dynamic global platform for fostering exchanges in the realm of quantitative biology and its related fields.

The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) released “Ten Scientific Questions on the Frontiers of High-End Manufacturing” at its 5th Yanqi Lake Conference on 27th June, 2023. The ten scientific questions were chosen from more than 100 candidate questions covering various fields of high-end manufacturing, particularly in laser manufacturing, micro- and nano-manufacturing, and robotized intelligent manufacturing.

The 4th Huangshan Dialogue on UNESCO-designed Sites and Sustainable Development opened at Huangshan City in east China's Anhui Province on June 29, 2023. Themed "Digital Technologies Enabling Sustainable Development of UNESCO-designed Sites", the two-day event attracted over 200 participants from more than 20 countries and over ten international organizations.

A new book "Spatial Observation of Giant Panda Habitat: Techniques and Methods" jointly published by the Science Press and Springer Publishing Company tells how space technologies can be used to monitor the habitat of giant pandas, and to facilitate the sustainable development of natural heritage sites.

At the request of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research, China GEO Secretariat activated its Collaborated network on Disaster Data Response Mechanism for these countries, and the Aerospace Information Research Institute of the China Academy of Sciences was responsible for collecting and analyzing China's high-resolution satellite imagery in support of the disaster responses.

The colloquium on 1.93-m optical telescope was held in Atushi city from May. 25 to 29, 2023. More than 150 scholars and students from over 30 institutes, universities and governmental units in China attended the colloquium.

SomesTech, a company incubated by the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology (SIAT) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and ConvEyXO, Belgium signed an agreement on May 25, 2023 to joint build a breakthrough platform on SomesTech's nanoengineering technology, marking a significant milestone in the development and commercialization of novel exosome-based nanocarriers.
