Chinese researchers have developed a new nanocomposite that can accurately detect lead, one of the most toxic heavy metals found in water. Chinese researchers from the Institute of Intelligent Machines, Hefei Institutes of Physical Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences developed a nanocomposite to achieve a sensitive and anti-interference electrochemical sensing for the analysis of lead.
Chinese scientists have designed a method to turn agricultural waste into high-density aviation fuels, which might reduce carbon dioxide emissions from the aviation industry. The research provides a new strategy for the manufacture of advanced aviation fuels with cellulose. Researchers are still making improvements, and it is expected to be commercialized in three to five years.
China and the United Kingdom launched four new joint projects to extend their current cooperation landscape on 27 March, during the visit of the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office Chief Scientific Adviser, Professor Carole Mundell, to Shanghai Campus of the CAS-JIC Centre of Excellence for Plant and Microbial Science (CEPAMS).
A group of scientists in Gansu province have discovered a fossilized bird dating back about 110 million years and the first ever to have an unlaid egg in its abdomen. The fossil represents a new species, Avimaia schweitzerae, belonging to a group called the Enantiornithes, which was abundant around the world and coexisted with dinosaurs in the Cretaceous period.
Russian and Chinese scientists will conduct a joint investigation using unmanned underwater vehicle (UUVs), Alexander Shcherbatyuk, the director of the Institute of Marine Technology Problems of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, told Sputnik on Wednesday.
Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SANU) on Wednesday signed a cooperation agreement which will enable them to exchange young scientists and experts and strengthen academic cooperation between China and Serbia.
