New Plastic-eating Fungus may Solve Garbage Problem[Apr 05, 2017]
Researchers from the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) have identified a novel fungus capable of degrading polyurethane (PU) plastics. The fungus named Aspergillus tubingensis was isolated by a research team led by Xu Jianchu, a researcher with the Kunming Institute of Botany under CAS.
The second International Strategy Expert Consultation Committee of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) was established in Beijing on Mar. 28th, to promote science and education innovation globally. The committee gathered 30 experts, ranging from areas and fields such as relevant international cooperation and management ministries, CAS key areas, and education, to CAS international cooperation platform.
The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) will build a new observation station in Tibet, to assist research and monitoring of the ecological system in the southeast of the autonomous region. The station, which will cover 2,600 square meters, is expected to be constructed this October in Deshing village of Metok County, the CAS said Thursday.
