China's Daya Bay collaboration and the RENO collaboration of South Korea, were awarded the 2023 High Energy and Particle Physics Prize of the European Physical Society at a ceremony in Hamburg, Germany on Aug. 21. Prof. WANG Yifang, initiator of the experiment and current director of the Institute of High Energy Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, accepted the award on behalf of Daya Bay collaboration.

An international conference on quantitative biology was held recently in Southern China’s Shenzhen, drawing over 300 participants from more than 20 universities worldwide to discuss illuminating opportunities and shaping the future of quantitative and synthetic biology. Jointly organized by the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology (SIAT) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Tsinghua University, Peking University, and the Shenzhen Institute of Synthetic Biology, the 17th Q-Bio on Quantitative Biology provided a dynamic global platform for fostering exchanges in the realm of quantitative biology and its related fields.
The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) released “Ten Scientific Questions on the Frontiers of High-End Manufacturing” at its 5th Yanqi Lake Conference on 27th June, 2023. The ten scientific questions were chosen from more than 100 candidate questions covering various fields of high-end manufacturing, particularly in laser manufacturing, micro- and nano-manufacturing, and robotized intelligent manufacturing.
The 4th Huangshan Dialogue on UNESCO-designed Sites and Sustainable Development opened at Huangshan City in east China's Anhui Province on June 29, 2023. Themed "Digital Technologies Enabling Sustainable Development of UNESCO-designed Sites", the two-day event attracted over 200 participants from more than 20 countries and over ten international organizations.
