The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) hosted its first-ever CAS President's International Fellowship Initiative (PIFI) Scholars Gathering in Beijing on June 27, bringing together international researchers to foster collaboration and strengthen global scientific partnerships.
Professor HE Hongping, Vice President of CAS, welcomed the international scholars in his opening remarks, and expressed his gratitude for their ongoing collaboration with CAS.
Launched in 2009 by CAS, PIFI aims to promote communication between worldwide researchers and CAS by funding outstanding foreign scientists to conduct substantive scientific and technological collaboration with CAS.
As a flagship program for international exchange, the initiative has supported over 6,600 distinguished scholars from more than 110 countries in their academic pursuits in China to date, according to Professor HE.
Through these exchanges, CAS effectively connects global research resources, integrates into the international innovation network, and conducts high-level international scientific cooperation.
Professor HE encouraged the scholars to offer suggestions for optimizing the PIFI program and enhancing services for foreign talent, thereby increasing its international profile.
The gathering provided a platform for visiting scholars to share their valuable experiences and insights gained through the PIFI program. Their perspectives underscored the program's success in facilitating impactful research and cultural exchange.
The PIFI Scholar Gathering serves as a key initiative for building the PIFI scholars' network and piloting reforms in the service and support of foreign talent at CAS. The event aims to improve services for international scholars, provide a platform for exchange, and facilitate cultural understanding.
Twenty-one scholars from 15 countries participated in this event.
