PAN Guangjin's team from Guangzhou Institutes of Biomedicine and Health of the Chinese Academy of Sciences developed a strategy for mass production of genetically engineered macrophages (GEMs) for the treatment of solid tumors, and developed a functionally enhanced anti-tumor GEMs, providing new ideas for the development and application of GEMs.

The research group led by Prof. ZHANG Yun at the Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter of the Chinese Academy of Sciences fabricated a foam cell-targeting nanoprobe based on near-infrared persistent luminescent nanoparticles (NIR PLNPs) to achieve highly sensitive detection of early AS plaques by persistent luminescence (PersL) imaging.

A research team from the Institute of Biophysics has revealed the dual-function mechanism of the Staphylococcus phage-derived Acr protein AcrIIA15: it can inhibit the cleavage activity of the host CRISPR-Cas9 system, thereby protecting the bacteriophage genome from destruction, and regulate the transcription of Acr itself to prevent a decrease in bacteriophage fitness due to excessive Acr expression.

Prof. YIN Yulong from the Institute of Subtropical Agriculture uncovered compelling evidence linking LPS-induced muscle mass loss with the reduction of Bacteroidetes abundance, increased inflammation, and disruption of mitochondrial morphology.
