China Announces Discovery of Two Major Shipwrecks Dating Back to Ming Dynasty

China announced the discovery of two major shipwrecks at a depth of 1,000m underwater in the northwest slope of the South China Sea. One contains a vast collection of porcelain artifacts, dating back to the Ming Dynasty. The other yielded well-preserved timber.

China conducted its first archeological exploration of the No. 1 wreck in the slope undercurrent of the northwestern South China Sea on Saturday. The "Deep Sea Warrior" manned submersible dove 1,500 meters to photograph the area and place permanent map markers. (CGTN)
