Chinese research team has discovered a 33-million-old crocodile fossilized feces with a crocodile footprint on it in Na Duong fossil site, Vietnam.

This is the first time that researchers have discovered a crocodile coprolite (fossilized feces) and footprint fossil combined.

This research project is carried out by China’s Institute of Vertebrate and Paleontology and Paleoanthropology of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Vietnam’s Academy of Science and Technology. The project team is made up of researchers from China, Vietnam, Türkiye and Malaysia and led by Dr. Kazim Halaclar from Turkey and Dr. Paul Rummy from Malaysia.

The findings have been published in Palaeoworld, an international scholarly journal. (ECNS)
