Over 20 kg of science experiment samples have been retrieved from the China Space Station. They were brought to Earth on the Shenzhou-15 spacecraft, which carried three taikonauts home on Sunday. The samples collected from 15 experiments will be studied to improve China's sci-tech capabilities. The samples include life forms like cells and roundworms, as well as materials like alloys and amorphous films. (CGTN)
Supported by 'Hundred Talents Program' of CAS, Professor QI Liang from IGCAS has improved the technique for PGE determination in geological samples since 2010. In his study, samples are first digested by HF in a custom made 120 ml PTFE beaker on a hot plate to remove silicates. The dried residue is then digested with HF + HNO3 at 190 ℃ for about 48 hours after the beaker is sealed in a stainless steel pressure bomb. Ultramafic rocks with refractory minerals can be effectively decomposed by this method.
China Space Station is set to welcome aboard nine international scientific projects from 17 countries covering a wide range of research areas. They include space life sciences and biotechnology, microgravity physics and astronomy, the China Manned Space Agency and the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs announced on Wednesday in Vienna, Austria.
