Chinese Academy of Sciences Sets up Harbin's First Tech Center

Feb 22, 2011

The Chinese Academy of Sciences set up northeastern China's first industrial technology center in Harbin on Feb. 20 in strategic cooperation with this city.

The center, located in a science and technology innovation park in Harbin, is expected to be mainly committed to developing strategic and emerging industries at the national level.

According to the construction plan, as of 2012, three to four industrial technology innovation platforms are expected to be set up to introduce more than 10 research teams from the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Three to five engineering technology centers are also expected to be built to carry out at least 15 industrial projects, which are estimated to achieve more than 3 billion yuan in sales income for local communities after the initial formation of technological innovation, achievements conversion, business incubators and industrial agglomeration for the sustainable development.

At present, the first batch of 12 projects from the Chinese Academy of Sciences is set to enter the industrial technology center soon.

The 12 projects, which are involved in key technologies, such as intelligent monitoring, pollution control processes, micro-power systems and the Internet of Things, are to receive 720 million yuan as financial support from the local government.
