On 24 October, the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) Organization inaugurated. To celebrate this milestone event in the history of the project, the ITER staff in Cadarache, France, raised their glasses together with their colleagues from the seven member parties (China, EU, India, Japan, Republic of Korea, Russia and US) who participated in the event via a live video-link.
In China, Vice Director-general of the Department of Basic Sciences under the Ministry of Science and Technology PENG Yiqi and ITER Beijing Office LUO Delong made a special trip from Beijing to Hefei where China's ITER research team is located. Together with WU Songtao, vice director of the CAS Institute of Plasma Physics, and other members of the team, they cheered for the important moment.
