According to the work needs of the Guangzhou Institutes of Biomedicine and Health of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (hereinafter, GIBH), we are now openly recruiting a new president for GIBH. We sincerely invite outstanding scientists in related fields at home and abroad to consider joining GIBH to promote the development of science and technology at GIBH.
1. Introduction to GIBH
Established in March 2006, GIBH is devoted to promoting human health and the "Healthy China" strategy, focusing on cutting-edge major scientific issues and important disease mechanisms in the life and health sciences, with the goal of building a world-class new R&D institution and innovative talent training facility in biomedicine and health. Our mission is to produce original basic theories, breakthrough technologies and systematic solutions to protect human health and guarantee disease prevention and control. GIBH is consistently committed to optimizing the mechanisms and means for the rapid transformation of achievements in science and technology. In this way, it will meet national strategic needs, further regional economic and social development, promote the development of the biomedical industry, and fulfill its core role as part of the nation’s strategic science and technology force.
2. Position qualifications
a. Must have excellent ideological and political character. Must take the initiative to carry out science and technology innovation, serve the nation and benefit the people. Must conscientiously implement national science and technology guidelines and policies. Must have a strong sense of enterprise and responsibility, be actively dedicated to the cause of science and technology, and dare to take responsibility. Must be realistic and pragmatic, faithful to one's duties, and be diligent and responsible.
b. Must have experience as a professor or in an equivalent position at a high-level university or research institution at home or abroad. Must have distinguished academic attainments and strong international academic influence in the field of life and health sciences, especially in cell lineage, cell fate regulation or immunometabolism and tumor therapy research.
c. Must possess strong organizational leadership skills, with a global perspective, pioneering spirit and sense of innovation. Must have more than five years' experience supervising major research projects and leading research teams. Priority will be given to those with leadership experience in high-level universities or research institutions at home or abroad.
d. Must be capable of macro-strategic thinking and possess a broad, international outlook. Must be adept at grasping the direction of development in the field of life and health sciences. Must be good at leading and organizing the implementation of major scientific and technological innovation activities and producing major results.
e. Must be able to work full-time at GIBH and devote one's main efforts to the management and development of GIBH. Must have the proper physical condition to perform one’s duties. In principle, the applicant should be not more than 55 years old.
3. Salary and benefits
Salary and benefits will follow the relevant policy for leaders of CAS-affiliated institutions. Compensation will accord with CAS's high-level talent compensation agreement.
4. Materials required

Those who pass the review of qualifications shall be invited to attend a competitive defense. Written application materials and the defense report (PPT) should include:
a. Personal profile information and major academic achievements;
b. Understanding and awareness of the responsibilities of the president, with a focus on ideas and insights about the positioning of GIBH, its development philosophy, and the organization of academic disciplines;
c. The applicant’s own strengths and weaknesses;
d. The applicant’s proposed work plan, including but not limited to specific ideas and initiatives for management of the institute and the development of academic disciplines.
