Postdoctoral Position Opening on NvDEx Experiment at IMP

May 12, 2021

The Institute of Modern Physics (IMP) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) invites applications for postdoctoral research associates to work on the NvDEx experiment, a novel neutrinoless double-beta decay experiment using high pressure 82SeF6 gas TPC and top-metal silicon sensor read-outs.
The successful candidates may participate in any aspects of the experiment according to their interest and expertise, from the design and construction of the TPC, silicon sensor read-outs, pressure chamber, gas system to software and radiation background control.
With a comprehensive research portfolio, including atomic physics, nuclear physics and applications, IMP is the most prominent research institute for nuclear physics in China. Neutrinoless double-beta decay is a new research direction that is under development. NvDEx is a promising concept with unique advantages including large volume, low noise and low background. All these are crucial for the discovery of neutrinoless double-beta decay. This postdoc position would provide unique future career potential for young scientists.
The appointment is initially for two years. The expected applicants should have a Ph.D degree in particle physics and/or nuclear physics by the date of appointment. Experience with low-background experiments or TPC is especially preferred.
Interested candidates should send a CV and a cover letter briefly describing their work and research interests to Dr. QIU (qiuh@impcas.ac.cn), and arrange for at least three letters of recommendation to be sent to the same email address.
Review of the applications will begin immediately and will continue until all positions are filled.
