China Launches its First Space-Based X-ray Telescope[Jun 15, 2017]

China's first homegrown X-ray telescope, which aims to survey the Milky Way to observe celestial sources of X-rays, lifted off into space on June 15. Onboard the CZ-4B rocket, the Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope (HXMT) was launched from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center, in northwest China.

China Makes Progress in Deep Sea Expedition[Mar 24, 2017]

China made several breakthroughs in deep sea exploration as a team sailed 7,929 nautical miles to explore the trenches in the west Pacific Ocean, the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) said Thursday. The 68-day expedition made China the first to obtain 10,000-meter-deep artificial seismic profile data with a domestic ocean bottom seismograph, at the Challenger Deep in the Mariana Trench, the CAS said in a statement.

China Acquires World's Deepest Seismic Profile Data[Mar 07, 2017]

The Institute of Geology and Geophysics completed two 10,000-meter-deep marine artificial seismic profile data acquisitions with its Chinese-made Ocean Bottom Seismometers (OBS) at the bottom of the Mariana Trench on February 28, 2017, and China has become the world's first country to acquire 10,000-meter-deep marine artificial seismic profile data, Xinhua News Agency reported on Sunday.
