China's new deep-sea manned submersible Fendouzhe (Striver) returned to south China's Hainan Province on Saturday morning on board the scientific research ship Tansuo-1, after completing its ocean expedition.
China's first full-depth deep-sea manned submersible, Fendouzhe, successfully completed all sea trial tasks and returned to Sanya port, South China's Hainan Province, on Saturday. Fendouzhe successfully landed on the Mariana Trench, the deepest point of the Earth, reaching a depth of 10,909 meters and setting a new record for Chinese manned deep-diving on November 10, according to CCTV News.
President XI Jinping called on Saturday for scientists and engineers working on deep-sea equipment and exploration to keep contributing to China's rise as a strong maritime country, as well as humanity's understanding, conservation and development of the oceans.

It successfully landed on the deepest point of the world, Mariana Trench, at 8:12 am on Nov. 10, reaching the depth of 10,909 meters and setting a new record of Chinese manned deep-diving.
China's new deep-sea manned submersible Fendouzhe, or Striver, set a national diving record of 10,909 meters on Tuesday in the Challenger Deep, a 11,000-meter chasm located at the bottom of the Mariana Trench in the western Pacific Ocean, according to China Central Television.
