My Research Abroad Experience in China

Aug 23, 2019

I came here in April 2013 as postdoctoral researcher and started my research about microbilogically influenced corrosion of metal alloys in a marine environment, surface division. During these years, I have had a lot of good memories about working in this institute and having fun with my Chinese and foreign friends. I will always feel that I belong to this institute because of its friendly and intimate environment.

Although doing research and getting outstanding results are the big challenges for all scientists in the world, I always feel it so praiseworthy to be here due to the institute’s many high tech facilities for analysis and study in my area. I am also so glad to work with the surface protection group under the supervision of Professor Song because of his guidance, knowledge, kindness and unwavering support. He always approves my requests to attend conferences that are essential to the success of the project and to my development as a scientist. I was able to lead about six master’s students and define their project according to my research area and was pleased when they graduated, publishing SCI papers.

During my research period at NIMTE, I had the opportunity to work with different researchers from different countries such as Italy, Colombia, France, Pakistan and Nigeria. So I could find many friends in this multicultural and friendly environment which helped me to find the world a better place. I also visited different countries such as the USA and Singapore to introduce my work at international conferences. Attending international conferences held in China also gave me a great chance to visit different cities of China such as Beijing, Shanghai, Xiamen, Nanjing, Qingdao and so on. I learned a lot about Chinese culture during my trips and tried different foods from different provinces which were very new for me. Indeed, I am a fan of Chinese food now and love to try new dishes. Every time I visit a new city in China, I feel better due to its nice hospitality.

I found that Chinese people are very warmhearted and lovely. They like to help together and are always friendly to each other and strangers. I never feel strange in this country because of the warm welcome of Chinese people. On the other hand, China has a very high technology now and is a world leader in marketing to a digital world; this makes life here much easier for us. Because we can prepare all of our requirements easily by the internet we can survive here with even a little knowledge of the Chinese language. Because of that, I believe China is a multicultural country now and life is so convenient here.

On the whole, I’ve felt comfortable in China during my stay and because of that I choose it at my destination for working and living.

I would like to express my recognition and appreciation to the Chinese Academy of Sciences for the scholarships and awards. Without their support, my work couldn’t be completed.
