CAS joins forces with NAS to probe S&T strategy
Under the joint auspices of CAS and the US National Academy of Sciences (NAS), a Sino-US symposium on S&T strategy was held recently in Washington DC. It was attended by a high-level Chinese delegation headed by CAS President LU Yongxiang.
The conference is designed to strengthen the exchanges and cooperation between the two academies on topics of common interest in the fields of macroscopic strategies and policies for the development of science and technology, energy sources and environment, so as to promote the consultative roles of the two organizations in strategy- and policy-making of their own countries.
Participants of the meeting delivered reports on topics of S&T development strategies, and policies concerning energy sources and the environment in China and US. The two sides decided that similar meetings should be held biennially in turn in the two countries. The second Sino-US symposium on S&T strategy will convene in 2010 in China.
