The maritime investigation vessel
Kexue-1 of the CAS Institute of Oceanology (IOCAS) departed on 12 September from the Zhongyuan Wharf in Qingdao. The voyage was attended by more than 50 researchers from 15 research institutes and universities
Begining from waters nearby Zhangzhi Island in Dalian, the exploration trip will go through typical areas in the Yellow, East and South seas. During the trip of about 37,000 miles, the researchers will carry out observations and surveys from aspects of marine hydro-meteorology, marine biology and ecology and marine chemistry, focusing on various issues, ranging from the impact of human activities on coastal regions, evolution of maritime environment to changes of biological resources.
