CAS researcher receives Ocean Service Award
Dr. TANG Danling from the CAS South China Sea Institute of Oceanology (SCSIO) received the Ocean Service Award at the Pacific Congress on Marine Science and Technology (PACON) 2007 held in Hawaii from 24 to 27 June.
PACON, established in 1982, is a world-renowned scientific organization dedicated to the sharing of scientific and technological information among the Pacific maritime nations. PACON International Ocean Service Award is to give individuals in recognition of their contributions to the organization or to marine science and technology in general. This year's Ocean Service Award went to two individuals, Dr. Tang and Dr. Ki Dai Yum of Korea Ocean Research and Development Institute, in recognition of their services to a healthy ocean environment.
Dr. Tang devotes herself to ocean sciences. She has been working in many countries such as U.S and Japan for many years. In 2004, she returned to China as a winner of the CAS Bairen Program. Currently, she is a leading professor of "Remote Sensing and Marine Ecology/Environment Group" of SCSIO. In recognition of her contributions to UNEP, she received International Environmental Price - Zayed Award Diploma in 2006.
