CAS mathematician honored with ISSAS award
At the 32nd International Symposium on Symbolic and Algebraic Computation (ISSAC) held from 29 July to 1 August at the University of Waterloo in Canada, the presentation made by Prof. LI Hongbo from the CAS Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science received the ISSAC Distinguished Paper Award in 2007.
Entitled "A Recipe for Symbolic Geometric Computing: Long Geometric Product, BREEFS and Clifford Factorization," the paper reports a stunning discovery in Euclidean geometric computing: the term preservation phenomenon. Scholars say that the novel approach can dramatically simplify the symbolic geometric computing, and is of significance for upgrading the efficiency of geometric reasoning.
