The "International Sand Storm Symposium" was held from October 31to November 2 in Beijing.
The event was hosted by the International Cooperation Bureau of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The 62 experts who attended the gathering came from the US, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Russia, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, the United Nations, and China.
The attendants shared their experiences and findings in the study and treatment of sand storms in their own countries. They also discussed the International Sand Storm Research Program (ISSRP) initiated by CAS. The delegates expressed appreciation of CAS efforts in this regard. They suggested that the program should have a global perspective, but it could be started on a regional basis.
The experts passed unanimously the Beijing Proclamation for ISSRP. They reached consensus on the next move and said they would help make ISSRP an international effort as early as possible.
