Exoskeleton Robot Brings Hope to Paralyzed People, the Aged

Researcher Fang Kai tests the function of going upstairs of a flexible exoskeleton robot in Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology (SIAT) of Chinese Academy of Sciences in Shenzhen, south China's Guangdong Province, Dec. 11, 2018. Exoskeleton robot, produced by Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology (SIAT) of Chinese Academy of Sciences, is used for rehabilitation training in hospital and personal self-care at home. The robot consists of complete drive and control system, a pair of smart crutches, multi-sensor system, and adjustable structure of active joints. Paralyzed people or the aged will get power and walking assistance by wearing it. Flexible exoskeleton robot is a new high-tech product which absorbs the advanced technology in various fields and improves the wearer's mobility. Compared with the traditional exoskeleton robot, flexible exoskeleton robot is highly integrated, intelligent, compliant and safe. It has become a research focus in recent years. The Exoskeleton Robot from Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology was exhibited at Shenzhen High-Tech Fair. It has independent intellectual property rights, and will be used in rehabilitation training in the near future.
