A US delegation, headed by Dr Erol Oktay from Office of Fusion Energy Sciences, US Department of Energy (DOE), visited the CAS Institute of Plasma Physics (ASIPP) from June 11 to 13 in Hefei, capital of east China's Anhui Province.
The delegation includes scientists from General Atomics (GA), Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The guests visited the tokamak HT-7 experiment and EAST (HT-7U Superconducting Tokamak) project. They applauded progress made at ASIPP in HT-7 experiment and EAST Mega-Science Project, personnel training programs and R&D capability at the institute. They also expressed the wish to enhance and expand the bilateral cooperation with the CAS institute in nuclear fusion research.
On June 12th afternoon, Prof Li Jiangang, Director of ASIPP, and Dr Stambaugh, Director of DIII-D Program, GA, signed a five-year agreement of full-scale scientific cooperation on DIII-D and EAST programs.
