One Faculty, Two Postdoc and Several Graduate Student Positions

Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) is establishing a group for bio-based renewable energy. One new faculty, two postdoc and several graduate student positions have been established within this group to complement the activities of other faculty members working in this area.

 

The faculty member will be expected to develop an internationally recognized, externally funded research program and to provide leadership in educational graduate programs in the areas of bioenergy and bio-based products. Possible topical areas of this group include thermo-chemical conversion processes, hydrothermal processes, bio-diesel production processes, biological conversion processes, conversion of biomass to liquid and gaseous fuels; separation of bioproducts; integration of biomass production/conversion/utilization concepts; and other relevant topics. The faculty member is expected to have a Ph.D. in chemical engineering, biochemical engineering, biological engineering or a related field of engineering with demonstrated credentials in research, scholarship, and supervising graduate students.

Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG), the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) was established in 1959 under the leadership of Prof. Cai Xitao, an eminent botanist in China. Research centers for Conservation Biology, Forest Ecosystem, Ethnobotany & Economic Plants have been established. Well-equipped laboratories and other facilities are available for scientific research. These include 24 research groups, a herbarium, a germplasm bank for tropical plants, an information center, a biogeochemistry laboratory, a GIS laboratory, Xishuangbanna tropical rainforest monitoring station, and Ailaoshan monitoring station for subtropical forest ecosystem studies.
