The research and development in converting coal-based Syngas into liquid fuels has been greatly enhanced by researchers at CAS Institute of Coal Chemistry (ICC). The slurry phase Fischer-Tropsch synthesis (FTS) technology was formulated in ICC over the past years. This technology has been proved to operate under mild conditions of 220 - 320 ¡ãC and 1/5 - 4.0 Mps. The catalysts developed by ICC, including ICC-IA, IB and IIA, show promising performance in laboratory slurry phase reactors. Several key problems for designing and operating an industrial slurry phase FTS reactor have been solved and extensive tested by simulated techniques. The current project is to crack other "hard nuts" and promote the industrialization of the technology, including the realization of the laboratory-based concepts at a scale near industrial conditions. |
