Poly(L-lactide) (PLA) fibers are based on renewable resources and are entirely biodegradable. They display the good performances of both natural and synthetic fibers. Collaborated with a local company in eastern Jiangsu Province, the Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry adapted the patented technology of direct spinning of PLA polymerization melt and set up an experimental system of 50t/a capacity. The PLA fibers produced by this equipment passed the technical evaluation organized by the National Association of Textile Industry and were approved as a “National New Product” in 2008. |
