As a nonlinear optical crystal of China’s brand, Lithium triborate (LiB3O5, LBO) has been used widely in the second and the third harmonic generation of high power all-solid-state lasers. Meanwhile as an alternatively significant frequency conversion material, it will play an active role in the application domains, such as large screen laser display and three primary color laser output. By using new flux system and solute transmission technology, the key point of fast growing large-scale, high quality LBO crystals was solved by Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry. The largest LBO single crystal reported in the world with 170×160×79 mm3 in size and 1,596g in weight, was successfully grown in 90 days.
