Cooperating with China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation, the Institute of Metal Research developed the design and manufacturing methods of twisted-tape tube. At the same time, the twisted-tape tube is added to the cracking heater successfully. The technology changes the flow regime in cracking tube, decreases the tube metal temperature (TMT) and the coking rate, and prolongs the run length. It reduces more than 20 degrees in TMT, prolongs the run length to 150 percent, increases about seven percent of feed rate, and decreases the fuel rate.
