A daughter satellite of Shenzhou VII

The General Establishment of Space Science and Application is responsible for the application tasks on Shenzhou VII mission. The Shanghai Engineering Center for Microsatellite is responsible for the development of the small satellite. The satellite weighs 40kg, with 10kg payloads and all the systems of tracking and communication, thermal control, autonomous guidance and positioning, and data-handling etc. About 1,680 photos of the Shenzhou VII from different directions have been transmitted back to the ground station.

Scientists from the Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics have done an experiment on solid lubricating material, which is the first time an experiment operated by a Chinese astronaut during the extravehicular activities. The samples recoveredin the material testing are also the first ones undergone in the outer space environment and successfully retrieved.
