The system of the Beijing-Tianjin real-time vertical layered surfacelayer atmospheric environmental monitoring

An integrated project named Joint Action Plan of Atmospheric Environmental Monitoring and Early Warning in Beijing and Surrounding Areas, was implemented by the Hefei Institutes of Physical Science, the Institute of Atmospheric Physics, the Institute of Remote Sensing Applications, the Research Center for Eco- Environmental Sciences, the Shanghai Institute of Microsysterm and the Information Technology, Computer Network Information Center etc.. The project was mainly monitoring air pollution in the Olympic stadia and the surrounding areas, by using advanced monitoring methods and devices. After setting up an integrated and three-dimensional monitoring system for atmospheric environment in the Olympic-related areas, the project helped the country realizing the commitments for air quality during the Olympics.

The underwater defense system was designed and manufactured by the Institute of Acoustics and the Xi’an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics. The system has well accomplished the underwater defense mission of the 2007 World Yacht Race (QINGDAO), namely Testing Game of the 2008 Olympics. The system can play an important role in detecting, tracking, recognizing and alerting underwater targets. In 2008, the system continued to undertook the underwater defense mission of Olympics and Paralympics sailing events. The Hefei Institutes of Physical Sciences and other units had developed a number of integrated competitive sports assistance training systems for rowing, trampoline and many others to provide technical support for the athletes.
