Reconstruction of Non-uniformly Sampled Signals of Multiple Receiver Synthetic Aperture Sonar by Means of Synthesis Filter Banks
2010-07-27

The non-uniform azimuth samplings of Multiple Receiver Synthetic Aperture Sonar (SAS) can cause distortion in the azimuth direction on the later imaging process, in order to solve the problem, REN Qiang, JIANG Zelin, LIU Wei et al. of Institute of Acoustics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, carried out s series of studies and proposed a method for the reconstruction of the non-uniform azimuth samplings.

The new method turns the non-uniform samplings into the uniform samplings by the synthetic filters in virtue of the similarity between the non-uniformly samplings of SAS and the signals after a decompose filter. Comparing with the traditional time-region and frequency-region reconstruction methods, this algorithm has advantages in obtaining both a narrower main lobe and lower sidelobe of an impulse response of point target. The simulation and lake experiments justified the effectiveness and the advantages of the algorithm applying for Multiple Receiver SAS.
