A laser welding system has recently been developed in IMECH of CAS
2007-10-31
Very recently, a novel laser welding technology system has been developed at the Lab for Engine Science and Engineering, which is newly established and directed by Prof. G. Yu who is a leading professor in field of laser materials processing, sponsored both by Institute of Mechanics of Chinese Academy of Sciences and China North Engine Research Institute of China North Industries Group Corporation. Possessing high integration and cost effectively, the system operates at very high accuracy and finds wide applications in many fields including machinery, electronics, and aero space. Being the third platform, the laser welding technology system succeeds the Integrated Laser Intelligent Manufacturing and Flexible Machining System, developed at Institute of Mechanics, owning self property rights. The system consists of a high power laser, a multi-axis robot, a digital control and feedback system, a laser beam shaping and delivery device, and a database system with CAx functions. The main characteristics are re-exploitures for controllers of the laser and the robot, which the opening control concept is applied, resulting in a harmony operation. Therefore, not only 2D and 3D laser processing is easily realized, but also rotation laser welding is particularly suitable, satisfying the end-user’s requirements. Nowadays, there are three similar systems have been installed at Shanghai Wolksvagen Automobile Co. Ltd, China North Engine Research Institute, and North Qinghua Group.
