Project supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, get through the mid-term examination
2009-02-20

The item of "cold atom optics Feshbach resonance experiments and a number of theoretical issues of research" ,which is organized by the Ministry of Science Committee of NNSF, get through themid-term examination on February 19.The experts of the jury, including academicians Xie Sishen and Xia Jianbai ,the director of MSC Zhang Shouzhu etc.. Academician Ye Chaohui and the director of WIPM Liu Maili attended the meeting.

This project is cooperated by researcher Lv Baolong in WIPM and Professor Wu Ying in HUST. study class for the alkaline earth metal atom photoassociation spectroscopy, optical Feshbach resonance, the cold atom gases, energy state, the energy spectrum characteristics, multi-wave mixing of matter waves, solitary waves, vortex properties can be given a deeper understanding, and thus for the cold atom optical frequency standard, cold molecules and efficient preparation, application of slow light research has a great role in promoting. Expert Group heard a report on the work of researcher Lv baolong after full discussion. It was agreed that the project team completed its scheduled milestones, some of the work has made important progress. Academician Xie Sishen and rearcher Liu Wuming gave highly affirmation to the progress of the current and future long-term development of this research. The Group hoped that this team to enhance team-building experiment, speed up progress of the experiment, concise scientific objectives, to solve scientific problems. Ye Chaohui proposed Academy project team should be an open mind to face research, attention and found that theoretical issues, to improve their theoretical knowledge, to strengthen the combination of theory and experiment. In view of the progress of the project occurred in the course of the technical difficulties and the use of funds, the Group recommended that the Fund Committee to increase the follow-up support for this project.
