More than 160 scientists from ten countries attended the 13th International Conference  on Megagauss Magnetic Field Generation and Related Topics (MG-XIII) held in Suzhou, China, on July 6~10, 2010.

Theme of the conference is “high-power pulse source technology and its application in physics experiment”. The conference focused on: ultrahigh and non-destructive pulsed magnetic field generation, high magnetic field physics, explosive and common high pulsed power technology and their applications in physical experiments, including explosively driven magnetic flux compression generators and high current sources, high current, high power switches and power conditioning technology, electromagnetically driven high energy density physics, including electromagnetic implosion of liners and Z-Pinch physics, experimental diagnosis and numerical simulations in related fields.

The “Pavlovsky Prizes” was presented to Prof. R.E. Reinovsky and Prof. G.A. Shneerson at the conference for their long-term contribution to Megagauss Magnetic Field technology.

The MG Conference was initiated in 1976. It provides an important platform for scientists and engineers to communicate about latest progress in every aspect of the science, technology and applications of magagauss magnetic field. This is the first time the conference was held outside Europe and the United States of America.

MG-XIII was hosted by Institute of Electrical Engineering, China Academy of Sciences (IEE) and Institute of Fluid Physics, China Academy of Engineering Physics (IFP, CAEP). Prof. YAN Luguang, academician of CAS and Prof. SUN Chengwei, academician of CAE chaired the conference.
