The Second Review Meeting of the CSNS International Neutron Technology Advisory Committee (NTAC) was held at the Institute of High Energy Physics (IHEP) from May 6 to 8, 2010.

The meeting was hosted by the China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS) Project Management. The advisory panel consisted of eight experienced experts in the fields of target and instruments, who came from the top SNS laboratories around the world.

The agenda of this meeting was to review the preliminary design of the CSNS target and instruments. Dr. CHEN Hesheng, director of IHEP and manager of CSNS, introduced the progress of CSNS. The experts listened to and reviewed 20 reports, covering project overview and status, experiment system status, neutronics, target system, moderator and reflector, and high intensity powder diffractometer etc. Fruitful interactions and discussions were conducted between the experts and the CSNS staff.

The experts concluded that a great deal of progress had been made since its last review in 2007. Valuable comments and suggestions were given on the project management as a whole and various sub-systems like configuration, target, moderators, and instruments etc.
