Professor ZHANG Xiangsun  from Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science(AMSS) was elected as vice-president of the International Federation of Operational Research Societies (IFORS). The tenure will be from 2010 to 2012.

The International Federation of Operational Research Societies (IFORS), founded in 1957, is an umbrella organization comprising the national operations research societies of over forty five countries from four geographical regions: Asia Pacific, Europe, North America, and South America.

As the Honorary President now, Prof. ZHANG Xiangsun  also served as the fifth and sixth president of the Operations Research Society of China.  Prof. XU Guanghui from Institute of Applied Mathematics, AMSS, also once served as the vice president of IFORS from 1992 to 1994.
