Foreign Ambassadors Visit CAS Institute in Hefei

On December 9, 2009, foreign ambassadors, counselors and diplomats from from Australia, France, Germany, the United States, Japan, Ukraine and other countries embassies and consulate officials, were invited to visit the Hefei institutes of Physical Sciences (CASHIPS) in a series of activities in its 60th anniversary celebration. Scientists from CASHIPS gave the visitors a warm reception and welcome.

Dr. LI Jiangang , the vice president of CASHIPS and the director of Hefei Institute of Plasma took the guests a tour at the Modern Science Museum. By using multimedia video, models, and other physical exhibits, Dr. Li introduced the the geography, history, the main research fields and important results about CASHIPS and gave the audience a overall picture of CASHIPS.

Guests also visited the Institute of Plasma Physics, Hefei Institute of Intelligent Machines, Anhui Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics and Institute of Solid State Physics. The various questions they asked during the visit, showed their very high scientific and technological literacy and their great interests to the mega-science projects.

Mr. Serhiy Burdyliak, the Consul General of Ukrainian Consulate at Shanghai, gave an appreciation speech on behalf of guests. Dr. Lu Yonglong  from the International Cooperation Bureau of CAS, thanked the envoys for their understanding and supports to CAS's international exchange and cooperation. He hope that this event will enhance mutual understanding and friendship, further strengthen scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation between CAS and scientific communities from the rest of the world.
