The establishment of a Yangtze freshwater cetacean conservation network was recently announced by the Ministry of Agriculture. As an organization to provide technology support to the network, the CAS Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) is commissioned to carry out standard formulation, related training and data analyses for the monitoring and rescue of the cetacean
Based on data provided by members of the network, a united information platform on Yangtze River dolphins will be set up to provide more accurate reports, says Prof. WANG Ding, a cetacean conservation specialist from IHB. "And the up to date information will help streamline the decision making process for protecting the endangered species." |
