| CAS, Royal Scientific Society of Jordan ink collaboration agreement |

On 17 September, Chinese President HU Jintao met with visiting Jordan's King Abdullah II at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. Following the meeting, the two leaders attended the signing ceremony of cooperation documents, including a memorandum of understanding for cooperation between CAS and the Royal Scientific Society (RSS) of Jordan.
The agreement was signed by CAS Vice Secretary-general TAN Tieniu and Jordanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Salaheddin Al-Bashir on behalf of respective organizations.
According to the MOU, the collaboration between the two sides will focus on such fields as dry-land farming, water efficiency, desert control, new energy sources and environment protection.
As the largest research and development organization in Jordan, RSS provides consultancy services, and operates research and laboratory facilities. At present it has 38 accredited specialized laboratories with more than 600 staff workers. Its president is Her Highness Princess Sumaya Bint Al-Hassan. |
