John Innes Centre Announces Collaboration with Chinese Academy of Sciences [ 17.06.11 ]
The John Innes Centre (JIC) has launched a major collaborative venture with Institutes of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). This builds on the strong associations between JIC and China that began more than three decades ago. There are over 100 JIC alumni with academic positions in China, and many of these alumni are in senior positions, including three who are Academicians at CAS.

Researchers at the Chinese Academy of Sciences' Institute of Process Engineering (CAS-IPE) announced that they have used the world's fastest supercomputer to run a molecular simulation to examine potential improvements in the production of crystalline silicon.
 
Agreement signed with UNESCO to establish International Centre on Space Techn... [ 13.06.11 ]
Dr. BAI Chunli, President of CAS, signed an agreement on June 2nd establishing the International Centre on Space Technologies for Natural and Cultural Heritage (WHIST) on behalf of the Chinese Government. This is the first centre established by UNESCO applying space technologies to monitor and conserve UNESCO Natural and Cultural World Heritage Sites.

"The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) is open to more international scientists and young research fellows. Although the existence of an active H3K27me3 demethylase activity is strongly implicated, how H3K27me3 is actively removed in plants remains unknown. Recent research in CAO Xiaofeng’s lab at the Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences describes the long-sought-after H3K27me3 demethylase in Arabidopsis.
