Liang Shoupan, China's renowned missileer and rocketeer, died at the age of 93 on September 5 in Beijing.
The academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences was one of the founders of China's space program. After finishing undergraduate studies at Tsinghua University in 1937, Liang received his master's degree from Massachusetts Institutes of Technology of the United Stated of America.
Liang worked for spacecraft engineering enterprises since he returned to China in 1940. He held the position of senior technical advisor of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation and China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation.
In the year of 1988, Liang was awarded special prize of China's National Award for Science and Technology Progress for his outstanding contribution on the country's space science research. |
