CAS Launches Talent Training & Importing Project

Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) has initiated a talent training and importing system project, aiming to bring in a group of high level talents in the coming five years.

CAS is planning to introduce 600 high level talents, import and train 600 academic pacesetters, culturing 600 supporting and managing personnel and 6000 young innovative talents, support 1500 excellent oversea scholars and scientists to work in CAS, said Jiang Xiezhu, spokesman of the academy.

The project includes "High-level Talents Training and Importing Program", "Excellent Young Talents Cultivating Program", "Supporting and Managing Talents Cultivation Program" and "Overseas Talents Introduction and International Exchange and Cultivation of Talents Program".

Currently, 328 academicians from both the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the CAS are working for CAS, 6 of whom with China's Supreme State Science and Technology Award, 150 being leading scientists of The National Basic Research Program (also called 973 Program), China's on-going national keystone basic research program.

CAS has implemented talents projects such as "100 Talents Program" in 1994 and "West Light Foundation" in 1996 to draw more high level talents.
