Shanghai Advanced Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences, is a legal entity jointly established by Chinese Academy of Sciences and Shanghai Municipal government with the total investment amounting to 1.9 billion US dollars. As a Hi-tech related applied research & personnel training institute, SARI caters to the needs of sustainable economic & social development in Shanghai while relying on the interdisciplinary studies in order to enhance our independent innovation capability.
To this end, SARI will mainly be engaged in S&T innovation, R&D of key & common technologies, industry incubation, technology transformation, venture investment and innovative talent cultivation. 4. Urban public safety technology (With focus on: Study on non-traditional technical defense technology of city railway; study on strategic public safety mechanism; study on wireless sensing & transmitting technology.)
5. OTFT display technology (With focus on: Design of organic flat panel display products / appliances; carrying out the construction of basic platform for organic flat panel display product testing.)
6. Perceptive China Information and electronic technology (To set up: Ubiquitous network lab, micro and nano device lab, information equipment and advanced manufacture lab; carrying out study on wireless sensing & transmission; study on micro system technology; study on micro power.)
7. Super large scale computing and data technology (With focus on: Study on cloud computing.)
8. Clean energy technology (With focus on: Study on gasification & pyrolysis of coal, biomass, and carbon-containing wastes; study on gas turbine and combined cycle power generation technology)
9. Low carbon energy transformation technology (With focus on: Alternative energy and chemical technology (e.g. C1 chemical); CO2 capturing, sealing and utilization and their coupling research with other energy technologies.)

19. Bio-medicine study (With focus on: Carrying out study on the systematic technologies for prevention, diagnosis and treatment of serious diseases; study on bio information technology and system; research and application of nutritional health and drug-related technologies.)
III. Talent types & Requirements:
Leading Talents (15)
1. Doctoral degree, aged no more than 55 years’ old in principle;
2. Experts or scholars who take the position that is equivalent to professorship in famous oversea universities or research institutions, and presided over & completed key scientific projects at national/international level ; or specialists who hold senior posts in famous international enterprises; or enterprising talents in possession of self-owned intellectual property rights or mastery of core technologies, with experiences in independent entrepreneurship, familiar with relevant industries & international rules;
3. Or professional technical talents who have acquired the professor or equivalent title in famous domestic universities or research institutions, and have significant impact on the academic progress or hi-tech innovation & integration in their own research fields, which have been recognized by domestic and oversea fellow researchers; or other professional technical talents who were holding senior posts in famous domestic enterprises; or urgently desired talents who led& completed key national & institutional scientific projects.
Outstanding Talents (40)
1. Doctoral degree, no more than 45 years’ old in principle, for particularly outstanding talents, this requirement can be less strict;
2. Talents who have engaged in oversea scientific research work for over 4 consecutive years and obtained the title of associate professor(or above), or those who held domestic position of professorship and its equivalent; all enjoying certain influences in domestic and oversea academic community, having achieved research results at international level, capable of leading a team to engage in internationally advanced scientific research and produce innovative results with international standard;
3. Or talents who have mastered key technologies, obtained significant inventive patents, with strong ability & rich experience concerning technology & process development & design, or having successfully started up hi-tech enterprises; all capable of leading a team to conduct the design, construction and operation of model projects or large experimental platforms etc. (for the exceptionally excellent engineering talents , the requirement on work seniority, age, academic degree and technical title can be appropriately lowered).
Backbone Talents (60)
Doctoral degree (master and above degree for engineers), no older than 45 in principle, with over 5 years’ relevant working experience or 1 year above experience at a post with associate senior professional technical title, enjoying certain influence in relevant fields at home and abroad.
Youth Talents (50)
Doctoral degree (master and above degree for engineering type personnel), no older than 35, with over 3 years’ relevant working experience or over 2 years’ experience at a post with intermediate professional technical title.
IV. Funds & Remuneration:
Star-up research funds
1. Leading talents: no less than 2,000,000RMB.
2. Outstanding talent: 1,000,000RMB, extra amount available upon application in view of the needs in scientific research.
3. Backbone talent: 500,000 RMB.
Salary
1. Salary + Performance Bonus;
2. Or Consensual Annual Salary:
(1) Leading talents: 500,000-800,000 /year
(2) Outstanding talents: 350,000-500,000 /year
SARI will select from the above-mentioned two payment methods in accordance with actual situation.
Welfare

2. For spouses of leading talents, outstanding talents, and backbone talents engaged from oversea, cities or provinces other than Shanghai who have not found a suitable job, a living subsidy at 1000 RMB/month will be distributed to them in no more than 12 months.
