Main functions: to formulate CAS strategies, plans, rules and regulations for international cooperation and academic exchanges; to make annual plans aimed at academy level international cooperation; to conduct negotiations, signing ceremonies and the administration of CAS cooperative agreements with overseas partners; to explore new channels for exchanges and cooperation with foreign organizations; to propose and manage major international cooperative projects of the CAS and its affiliates; and to initiate and manage CAS cooperative programs and fellowships. The Bureau of International Cooperation maintains liaison with related agencies in China dispatched by international organizations, handles relevant affairs concerning S&T cooperation with the Hong Kong SAR, Macao SAR and Taiwan Province, and exercises administrative power involving foreign affairs authorized by the State Council.
