Born in Shanxi Province on January 14, 1963, Prof Yin graduated from Taiyuan Institute of Technology in 1983 and then worked there as a teaching assistant. In 1989, he got his M.S. degree in radio physics from Xidian University. He taught in Taiyuan University of Technology from 1989 to 1992. He received his doctoral degree in electromagnetic theory and microwave technology from the CAS Institute of Electronics (IECAS) in 1995 and worked there as an associate research professor, research professor and assistant to the director-general, respectively. He was appointed executive deputy director-general and director-general of IECAS in August, 1999, and in August, 2001, respectively. He was named director-general of the CAS Bureau of High-tech Research and Development in August, 2006. Professor YIN was appointed vice president of CAS in January, 2008.
In his research career, Prof. YIN has been conducting research in such fields as electromagnetic theories and wave techniques, microwave devices and technology, and microwave-remote sensing technology. He has organized or supervised a great number of national key research projects and received many ministerial-level science and technology prizes. |
